As far as cities go, Amman ranks as a reasonable stop in Jordan. Although there's not that much to see and do, citizens are very obliging, and, although traffic is mad, it's a good place to hang out in the hustle and bustle.
Things to see: Citadel, Roman Theatre, Odeon, Hashemite Square, King Abdullah Mosque, Abu Darwish Mosque, etc. Just relax and drift with its people! Sample the delicious and cheap food stalls on the streets, go shopping, … Amman is a modern Arab city rather than a great, ancient metropolis of the Orient; but has a lot to offer if you scrap below the surface :-)
The Dead Sea has such a high salinity that allows you to float on the surface - drowning or sinking hardly possible! A great experience!
Mount Nebo, Siyagha, is the Memorial of Moses. It is here where Moses is said to have seen the Promised Land, a land he was himself forbidden to enter.
