Jerash & The North

The region north of Amman is the most densely populated in Jordan and with the fertile valley of the Jordan River the food bowl of Jordan.
Pella (Taqabat Fahl) is known for its ruins; important to archeologists because it has revealed evidence of life from the Stone Age through to medieval Islamic ruins.
Umm Qais (Gadara) is another ancient town with interesting ruins. Normally the site also offers fascinating views over the Golan Heights in Syria, Sea of Galilee in Israel and the Jordan Valley (if it's not raining…).
Jerash (Gerasa) is one of the best preserved Roman outposts in the world. Stroll the Street of Columns to the Oval Plaza and imagine how life must have been then.
