July 27 to August 18, 1995

My brother and I visited some friends of us in Cuautla, Morelos. Mainly, we lived a Mexican way of life during our 3-weeks stay - visiting friends, having fun, partying, doing sports, etc. However, we also did some sightseeing and visited some spots in Mexico - like Mexico City, Acapulco, Taxco, Tepoztlan and Chalcatzingo.

What impressed me most during my stay in this country were the people I met. They integrated us into their clique within no time - together we went to parties, had fun in the pool or watched TV. Therefore I got a really good insight into the life of young Mexican people.

All in all, Mexico was a great experience - however, the 3 weeks were far too short to get to know this country. Therefore I plan to visit it again - at the latest, when I'm able to speak Spanish (but I need some time to learn this language) - so, Mexico we'll see each other in a few years!

Mexico City top

20 million inhabitants, 3 million cars, and 100,000 fabrics pollute the air and congest the streets - however, it wasn't that bad :-). Mexico City is a city of contrast - wealth and poverty are situated next to each other. On the one hand, you'll find the beautiful and the rich and on the other hand, you'll discover an endlessly big slum region.

Mexico City is slowly but surely sinking into the lake the city is built on, therefore especially the Cathedral has to be propped up by scaffoldings . So, hurry up and travel to the biggest city in the world!

Acapulco top

We spent a great weekend in Acapulco - home of the famous cliff divers (clavadistas). With an intrepid jump from the Quebrada-Rock, they daily risk their lives but also earn their living. This is definitely a must-see!

Furthermore, we enjoyed the beaches, the Parque Acuático CICI, and the night-life of Acapulco.

Taxco top

170 km south of Mexico City is the silver-city Taxco situated. The 115,000 inhabitants of the city offer visitors a romantic place - well-looked-after houses, flowers, cobblestones streets, beautiful fountains, and silver - everywhere you look! If you listen carefully you'll hear the hammering of the silversmiths, of the plateros.

Also don't miss Santa Prisca, the basilica made of red sandstone.

Tepoztlan and Chalcatzingo top

In Tepoztlan and Chalcatzingo we climbed up to some Aztec temples. The temples themselves are not worth-mentioning but the view from up there was great.
